Tell us about your family.
My wife’s name is Olga Lucia Bayona. On February 26, we celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. Our son’s name is Juan Felipe Currea, and he is 19 years old. We enjoy watching movies, going for walks and exercising, and playing board games.
How have you seen God working in your family?
At every moment, we see the Lord working in us. But I would like to mention, in a special way, how the Lord is working in the life of our son, Juan Felipe. For a season in his life, he had lost his way, and his decisions had not been the right ones. Yet we witnessed how the Lord moved his entire world in an unexpected manner, and in that moment, although it was very difficult for him and for us as parents, the Lord began to grant him a new opportunity. He shared with us how he felt he had been born again. Truly, we see a wonderful change in him. And without any doubt, it is the hand of the Lord at work in our lives.
How have you seen God working in your life?
The Lord, through this family situation, has truly been teaching me what mercy really is. We used to take for granted that we understood it, but when we actually experience it, it is something very different. At first, I was very harsh in the way I treated my son, but the Lord has been teaching me that I must treat him with compassion, as if I were in his place.
How have you seen God working in your church?
During this season, we have observed that the spiritual health of the church plant is very strong. The people have a deep desire to study the Scriptures. At every Bible study, every men’s and women’s meeting, and every training session, they are eager to attend and participate with joy and enthusiasm. Their desire to serve, to collaborate, and to help in the church plant is evident. The commitment among the brothers and sisters continues to grow, and this shows us that they are maturing in their faith.
What is your church’s mission/vision?
Vision: In the medium term, to achieve—depending solely on God—sustainable growth in the Church Plant; and in the long term, to be firmly established as a local church, extending the Kingdom of God in our community as instructed by the Holy Bible.
Mission: To equip believers in order to build a church that is sound in doctrine, united in faith, and growing in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
How can we be praying for you?
1. For my spiritual growth.
2. For the unity of my family.
3. That the Lord would strengthen, confirm, and establish the members of the church plant.
