Tell us about your family.

My name is Mauricio Salas, and I am 38 years old. My wife’s name is Arely González, and she is 34 years old. It has been 13 years since the Lord rescued us, and we have been married for 12 years. We are blessed with four wonderful children: Levi and Itiel, who are five years old, Raquel, who is nine, and our oldest daughter, Naomi. As a family, we enjoy spending time together. We love reading and going out together.

How have you seen God working in your family?

I have seen God at work in my family, bringing growth and maturity. I have seen Him shape us through the language of the Gospel— not merely through commands, but through helping us understand what Christ has done and why we live in response to Him. I have also seen God working in my children in everyday life. Despite our sins and the natural rebellion that can arise in all of us, the Gospel is teaching them to serve even those who oppose them, to love their friends well, and to speak about their faith in a more natural, clear, and understandable way.

How have you seen God working in your life?

That is a very good question. Honestly, it has been very hard and painful to die to myself—both in my marriage and in the way I parent my children. Yet I see the deep love of God at work in my life, transforming my proud heart and reminding me that I am not a perfect father, and that I can trust the One who is—the perfect Father, God Himself. The Gospel has worked in my life by teaching me that I cannot save my children from every circumstance or situation; the only true and faithful Savior is Christ. The Gospel has also helped me understand that even if I work hard all day, Jesus is the true and good Provider, and that truth has brought rest to my soul. I will not deny that at times I return to old patterns of thinking, but I believe that God, through the Gospel, the Scriptures, and the Holy Spirit, is helping me continue to grow in these areas.

How have you seen God working in your church?

God has been at work through His Word, through community, and through the constant missional rhythm we share as a church. I see it in how people carry one another’s burdens, how they serve each other, and how they intentionally look for opportunities to serve the community. They are moving away from merely living a Sunday-centered Christian life and toward embracing a truly missional way of life. I believe God, through the Gospel, is actively shaping them. They are beginning to mature—not simply as individual religious people, but as a well-formed body of Christ. This brings me great joy and fills me with hope and faith in the Lord and in the power of the Gospel.

What is your church’s mission/vision?

Vision: We exist to make Gospel-centered disciples who share life and serve their community and city with love.

Mission: Our mission is to plant Gospel-centered churches that, in collaboration with other congregations, strengthen local communities and bring the Kingdom of God to contexts marked by spiritual, personal, and social brokenness.

Over the next 10 years, we seek to see at least three new churches established in Tultitlán, committed to the faithful proclamation of the Gospel, life in community, and transformative service in the city.

How can we be praying for you?

I would love for you to pray for my family, for our local church — that it would grow and mature — and for our city, especially in light of the violence we are currently experiencing.
