Tell us about your family.
I am married to Rose Wambui, with whom I schooled together in primary school many years ago. We have been married for 8 years. The Lord has blessed us with three children: Ezra (6yrs), Neema (5yrs), and Rehema (2yrs). At the moment, it seems like we love going out for Pizza and some bouncing castles afterwards.
How have you seen God working in your family?
Seeing children grow has been a huge highlight as young parents. It's been a time of learning, relearning, and growing in our dependence on God, but rejoicing that he has held us fast, provided for us, and cared for us. We have really benefited from the church community, learning from others on parenting and marriage, and being refreshed by them has been a huge blessing from God.
How have you seen God working in your life?
Church planting has a way of both humbling you and encouraging you. The last couple of years, I have experienced both of these things: on the one hand, been encouraged by God working through my doubts and fears, and, at other times, felt helpless and totally out of control. My own sin of self-dependence, of mistrust, and lack of patience has been revealed even more, and yet on the flipside, God by his grace has worked in my heart, teaching and guiding me. I am growing in my dependence on God, in my love for His people.
How have you seen God working in your church?
God has been at work in building his church, saving men and women lost in sin and brokenness, and in growing the members into a loving community that is opening their lives and homes to love and serve one another. God has provided elders and deacons to serve his people; he has been growing this community and even enabling us to impact the people around us. There have been encouraging testimonies of people whose eyes have been opened to the beauty of the gospel and of others whose marriages have been strengthened.
What is your church’s mission/vision?
Our vision is to be a Gospel-shaped community. We aim that our lives will be infused with the good news of the coming of a saviour to our world to save us and to live lives transformed by that gospel, shaping our priorities, our conversations, and our lives, bearing fruit for Christ in every sphere of our lives.
How can we be praying for you?
1. Pray for our church outreach this year, that God may cause them to bear fruit of unbelievers coming to faith.
2. Pray for resources to provide for a stable, more permanent space for our church gathering so that we have an enduring gospel witness in this community.
3. Pray for me that the good news of Jesus Christ may continue to be good news to me, never taking my gaze away from the cross!
